Hip Hop, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical
I’m Colleen, and I have been dancing since the age of 4. I teach hip hop, tap, jazz, modern/contemporary, and lyrical. Dance has been a part of my story for a long time, and I love that Dance Centre has given me the opportunity and safe space to share that love and passion for dance with others. I’m passionate about building character, confidence, expression, and strength for each and every student that comes into my class. I love dance and all it stands for, and I look forward to sharing that joy with your children!
Colleen Glinton has been dancing since the age of 4. Her formative years were under the direction of JodiAnne Labella, Ondrea Grippe-Getz, Amy Lisberg, Cody Wheat, Julianna Murihead, and many other teachers at Dancenter and Ondrea’s Centerstage in Marcy, NY. Her training consisted of ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, modern, lyrical, and hip hop.
Colleen became a part of the competition team at the age of 11 giving her the opportunity to compete in regionals, and national competitions all up and down the East Coast. Throughout her competitive years, Colleen took part in convention classes taught by professional choreographers from all over the world, as well as traveling to NYC to take classes at STEPS and Broadway Dance Center. Colleen was given a Power Pack invitation from the Starpower Regional competition to attend their Nationals in Disney. As a part of that invite, she was a member of the opening number to start the National Competition.
Once Colleen graduated from high school, she became a full-time teacher at Centerstage Dance Studio for 5 years before getting married and moving to Long Island. Throughout her 5 years, she taught both competitive and non-competitive students, as well as being a part of the Special Needs program at Centerstage for adults and children. Her competition students went on to win many awards and her hip-hop team won a National Title. Colleen enjoys the dedication, and fast pace of the competition team, however her best accomplishment was helping a young man out of his leg braces just by sharing her love and passion for Dance.
Colleen took a few years off after she got married to start a family with her wife Garrette and they now have a beautiful baby boy also named Garrette. Colleen has been a teacher at Dance Centre of the Hamptons and Manorville for the last 4 years as part of the competitive staff and non-competitive staff. Dance Centre has given Colleen the opportunity and safe space to share her love and passion of dance with others. She is passionate about building character, confidence, expression, and strength for each and every student that comes into her class. “I love dance and all it stands for, and I look forward to sharing that joy with your children as a continued member of Dance Centre of the Hamptons and Manorville.”
