Margalit's earliest memories are of her mother Leigh's dance studio in Israel, where she was born and raised. She has been a constant presence in Ms. Leigh's work since then, having taught Lyrical and Ballet at Dance Centre from its inception. Multiple generations of our Dance Centre family have studied under her.
Margalit grew from student to teacher under Leigh's guidance, before striking out on her own to pursue a career in theater. Her studies began at age 14 when she left Israel to study dance and performing arts at the Urdang Academy in Covent Garden, England. At 17 she returned to the Nissan Nativ School in Tel Aviv, the foremost acting school in Israel. A fellowship from the New York Foundation for the Arts took her to the famed Drama Centre of London, where she trained in theater under renowned instructors Christopher Fettes, Reuven Adiv, and Yat Malmgren.
Margalit has worked professionally in theater and television, performing in many New York area theaters including Theater Row, Playwrights Horizons, Irish Repertory Theaters, and Guild Hall in East Hampton. She has a special place in her heart for The Hampton Theater Company in Quogue, where she performed some of her most memorable roles and met her most memorable creative collaborators.
In addition to teaching ballet, Margalit is an acting coach who works one-on-one with stage and film actors, and a certified Pilates instructor. She incorporates all of these disciplines into her work preparing dancers and actors for the rigors and rewards of the performing arts.
